Seadouro review: private yacht charter from Marina do Freixo
Seadouro rents crewed motor yachts on the Douro, from a two-hour bridges run to a six-day cruise upriver. The Porto fleet is four boats for 10 to 14 guests, based at Marina do Freixo rather than in Gaia. The company publishes no prices at all on its own site, which is the single most important thing to know before enquiring.

Who Seadouro are
Seadouro is a crewed charter business rather than a tour operator. Nothing in its Porto range is sold by the seat: you book a boat, with a skipper, for a block of hours. The company works three bases, Marina do Freixo in Porto, Pinhão in the upper Douro, and Vilamoura in the Algarve, and adds jet skis, paddleboards and a concierge service on top of the yachts.
The Porto fleet is four motor yachts, named by length in feet: Seadouro 40 for up to 10 guests, Seadouro 46 for 13, Seadouro 50 for 14, and Seadouro 62 for 12. Contact runs through hello@seadouro.com, +351 913 664 592 and WhatsApp. The site sells in English and Portuguese.
Marina do Freixo is not Douro Marina
This is the detail people get wrong. Most Porto boat operators sit downstream, at Cais da Ribeira, Cais de Gaia or Douro Marina in Afurada. Seadouro is upstream, at Marina do Freixo beside Ponte do Freixo, near Palácio do Freixo and closer to Campanhã than to the historic centre. The marina takes boats up to 16 m on 76 berths and has a restaurant and cafeteria on site, per its own website.
Going downstream from Freixo means you pass all six bridges on the way to the Ribeira and back, which is why the same company turns up in both cruise searches and yacht-rental searches. Transfers to and from the marina are offered, at extra cost.
Charters, durations and what they cost
Seadouro publishes a grid of named experiences with durations but no prices. That is unusual among Porto operators and it shapes how you use them: everything begins with an email, and comparison against a shared cruise is impossible until you have a quote in hand.
| Experience | Duration | What it covers |
|---|---|---|
| Bridges | 2 h | Downstream run past the six bridges and both banks |
| Lunch | 2 h 30 | Six bridges route with a meal on board |
| Dinner | 2 h 30 | Same route after dark |
| Sunset | 3 h | Evening on the river, sparkling wine on arrival |
| Party | 4 h | Private group hire, own music by Bluetooth |
| Upriver | 7 h | Into the Douro above the city |
| Relax / Full day (Ilha dos Amores) | 12 h | Day charter with swimming and paddleboards |
| Porto to Peso da Régua | 1 day | Through the locks to Régua |
| Porto to Pinhão | 4 days | Upper Douro, overnight on board |
| Porto to Foz do Sabor | 6 days | Full navigable Douro |
| Taylor Made | Flexible | Route and timing set by the client |
One price anchor exists outside the operator's own pages. The charter marketplace Sailo listed a Seadouro yacht in Porto, described as a 2021 Azimut 50 Fly for 14 guests with captain included, at €650 for its shortest bookable slot in September 2026. Treat that as a marketplace rate for one boat, not as the company's own tariff, and get a written quote for your date.
Included and extra
- Included per the operator's experience pages (Sept 2026): crew, fuel, passenger insurance, WiFi, a WC, Bluetooth music, and a welcome drink. The sunset page specifies a glass of sparkling wine per person.
- Stand-up paddleboards are included on some yachts, not all.
- Charged extra: transfer to and from Marina do Freixo, bar service and snacks, photography, concierge, jet ski hire.
- Own food and drink: allowed for €75 per booking, with red wine, rosé, crisps and red berries excluded. That is a whole-group fee, not per head, which makes it cheap on a boat of 12.
What travellers say about Seadouro
The public review record is thin, and that is the honest headline. Tripadvisor showed 5.0 out of 5 from 20 reviews in September 2026, ranked 44th of 329 transportation listings in Porto. Twenty reviews is not enough to describe a pattern with any confidence, and a charter business that runs a handful of private bookings a week will always collect fewer reviews than a boat selling 90 seats a day.
What the visible reviews do agree on: the boats are clean and well equipped, the captain and crew are attentive rather than perfunctory, and the office answers questions by email properly, including arranging things ashore such as a lunch booking at a marina upriver. Reviewers describe the price as high but justified, which fits a private-charter product.
No complaint theme is visible in the public reviews. Absence of complaints across 20 entries is not the same as a track record across 200, so weight it accordingly and ask for references if you are booking a large event.
Booking Seadouro
There is no online checkout for the Porto experiences. Enquiries go by email or WhatsApp, and the quote comes back per boat for your date, group size and duration. Some of the same yachts appear on charter marketplaces, where a price and a cancellation policy are shown up front, which is the easier route if you want to compare before committing.
- Get the quote in writing with the boat name, the number of guests and the exact hours.
- Ask what the cancellation terms are. Nothing is published on the operator's site.
- Ask whether transfers to Marina do Freixo are in the quote or on top of it.
- Confirm the €75 own-food fee and its exclusions if you plan to bring anything on board.
- Check the departure point on your confirmation says Marina do Freixo, not Douro Marina or a Ribeira quay.

Compare Porto boat tours and chartersAlternatives to Seadouro
- For a private motor yacht with a published rate, compare the operators in the private charter guide before opening a quote request.
- For the same bridges at a fraction of the cost, a shared six bridges cruise from Cais da Ribeira runs every half hour in season.
- Sailing 360º and Mar Douro, both at Douro Marina in Gaia, publish per-boat prices for private trips and are closer to the tourist centre.
- For the upriver product, compare Seadouro's multi-day charters against scheduled boats in the Douro Valley guide, which are cheaper per person.
- For evening light without a charter budget, see the Porto sunset cruise options, and for the jet skis Seadouro also rents, the jet ski guide.
Checked in practice
- Marina do Freixo is upstream of the centre near Ponte do Freixo. Allow 15 to 20 minutes by taxi from the Ribeira and more in rush hour, and do not confuse it with Douro Marina in Afurada.
- There is a restaurant and cafeteria at the marina, useful if your group arrives in ones and twos.
- From Freixo you sail downstream, so the six bridges come in sequence and the Ribeira arrives roughly midway. Ask the skipper when the turn is if you want photographs.
- The €75 own-drinks fee is per booking. On a boat of 12 that is about €6 a head, which usually beats bar service.
- Red wine, rosé, crisps and red berries are excluded from what you can bring, because of the upholstery. Plan the picnic accordingly.
- Paddleboards are on some yachts only. If swimming is part of the plan, name it in the enquiry.
- Flybridge yachts have real shade below and none above. Bring hats for a summer day charter.
- For a multi-day cruise, confirm where you sleep and how the locks at Crestuma and Carrapatelo fit the schedule, since lock timings drive the day.
Our verdict
What works
- Four motor yachts for 10 to 14 guests, all private hire
- Durations from 2 h to a 6-day run up the whole navigable Douro
- Crew, fuel, insurance, WiFi and a welcome drink stated as included
- Own food and drink for €75 per booking, not per person
- Upstream base means the six bridges come as standard on the way down
What to watch
- No prices published anywhere on the operator's site
- Only 20 public reviews, too few to judge consistency
- No cancellation policy published
- Marina do Freixo is away from the tourist centre and transfers cost extra
- Parts of the website still show booking windows that ended in 2023
Questions travellers ask
Is this the official Seadouro website?
No. This is an independent review on porto.boats, written from Seadouro's public pages and public reviews. Their own site is seadouro.com, and all quotes, bookings and refunds go through them or through the charter marketplace you use.
How much does Seadouro cost?
The company publishes no prices on its own website, for any experience or any boat. The one public figure found in September 2026 was on the charter marketplace Sailo, which listed a Seadouro 50 with captain at €650 for its shortest slot. Ask for a written quote for your date and group size.
Where does Seadouro depart from?
Marina do Freixo in Porto, upstream of the centre beside Ponte do Freixo, roughly 15 to 20 minutes by taxi from the Ribeira. It is a different marina from Douro Marina in Afurada, where most Gaia-based operators are. Transfers are available at extra cost.
Can I book Seadouro online?
Not through their own site, which takes enquiries by email and WhatsApp instead of selling online. Some of the same yachts appear on charter marketplaces with instant prices and stated cancellation terms, which is the simpler route if you want to compare first.
Is Seadouro worth it?
For a group of 8 to 14 that wants the whole boat, catering and a route of its own, it fits the brief. For one or two people it does not, because nothing is sold by the seat and a shared cruise from the Ribeira covers the same bridges for a small fraction of a charter.
Does Seadouro pass the six bridges?
Yes. The two-hour Bridges experience and the lunch and dinner charters run the six bridges route, and because the marina sits upstream at Freixo you cover them heading down towards the Ribeira and again on the way back.
Can I bring my own food and drink on a Seadouro yacht?
Yes, for a stated €75 per booking rather than per person, with red wine, rosé, crisps and red berries excluded. A welcome drink is already included, and bar service and snacks can be ordered as an extra.
